Each year several 'friendly' inter-club matches are arranged in which all members participate.
For the more competitive bowlers the club takes part in local leagues, having won the Bristol
and District Cup in 1997 with promotion to the 1st Division, and then runners up in the 1st
Division the following year.
Although still affiliated to Avon County S.M.BA this year, the club is playing in the
Woodspring League as with boundary changes we are now back in North Somerset.
Two members of our club are currently in the Avon County Squad.

Kewstoke Short Mat Bowling Club was formed in the spring of 1989 at the suggestion of the
Village Hall Committee as a means of raising income for the newly built hall. The people of
Kewstoke had provided the facility and they were looking to clubs and organisations to make
use of it. Accordingly a six-person steering committee was formed, each member contributed
£l0-00 to provide working capital and by June of that year a Short Mat Bowling Club with just
under 30 members was up and running. We had little or no bowling experience but we made up for
this with a great deal of enthusiasm. The Club has just celebrated its 10th anniversary and
although it has never grown very big, still under 30 members, is now firmly established as a
respected member of the local bowling scene.
